Management

Golf course managers, superintendents and head greenkeepers face many challenges. They are expected to produce a consistently pristine course which can be played by hundreds of golfers for as many of the 365 days a year the local climate will allow. Increasingly they must improve turfgrass and develop sustainable, ecologically acceptable courses, using less water and fighting disease with fewer (or even no) chemical weapons.

Management of golf courses are  relates to the use of water and chemicals, which links directly to the turfgrass species used. Improvements in environmental performance (along with cost reductions) will come from using turfgrass species appropriate to the location and climate of the facility, since this will require lower inputs of water, nutrients and chemicals As climate change effects are felt ever more strongly, the careful choice of turfgrasses and management regimes will become increasingly critical to the viability of golf courses.
Remote sensing could be used to assists them monitoring the golf course. How?
